Business valuation

Know what your business is likely worth to a buyer — and why — before you make decisions that depend on it.

Financial analysis on paper and laptops

When owners use it

  • • Deciding whether and when to sell
  • • Partner or shareholder buyouts
  • • Responding to an unsolicited offer
  • • Setting goals for exit planning
  • • Evaluating a business you want to buy
  • • Bringing in a minority investor

Our approach

Recast earnings

We normalize three to five years of financials — adding back owner perks and non-recurring items and adjusting owner compensation to market — to arrive at Seller's Discretionary Earnings or adjusted EBITDA.

Market approach

We compare your business to transaction data for similar private companies, adjusting for size, growth, margins, and risk.

Income approach

Where appropriate, we cross-check with a capitalized-earnings or discounted cash flow view.

Value drivers & detractors

We explain what moves value up or down: customer concentration, owner dependence, recurring revenue, records quality, and growth.

What you receive

A written report with a value range, the supporting analysis, and a list of practical steps that could improve value. We walk you through it in a meeting.

Our valuations are market opinions for transaction planning. They are not certified appraisals for court, IRS, or estate tax purposes; for those, we can refer you to a credentialed appraiser.
